Another Sunday, Another Naive Weekly — Observations From The Internet Wilderness.
Good morning,
Our days start the same: Uno wakes up first and starts talking. He is so consistent that I forgot how to operate our alarm clock. It is sweet to be woken by his latest words, like this week when he in Danish said “1, 2, 3, throw” as he threw his pacifier straight up in the air and laughed out loud as it landed on me.
After coffee and breakfast, I put Uno on my shoulders and walk to his daycare. As we exit our house, Uno turns to wave to Ana and our landlord Klaus before he scouts for the dogs and cats living on our street. I cherish this grounding morning rhythm, just like I value these July weeks when we keep Uno at home for his first summer holiday.
With care,
Kristoffer
ROADSIDE FLOWERS
Flefixx creates narratives from common letter combinations.
House of stone is question for surreal estate seekers and a Sunday Site.
Absurd Trolley Problems is crowdsourced philosophy as a distraction.
FIELD NOTES
Real Deepfakes and Fake Deepfakes
I appreciate how Sam Lavigne demystifies deepfakes in this blog post about his Austin Police Department Decruitment project. Sam provides a simple guide on how to create deepfakes, yet it is not the glimpses into the mechanics of deepfakes that fascinate me but the reflections on how common fake deepfakes are.
Bad Design
I enjoy course descriptions. Especially when they are spreadsheets with detailed prompts for student projects and a solid syllabus to browse. This course on Bad Design is all of it and also has a good name. I’m considering assembling a collection of similar quality course descriptions, so if you know of any, please send them my way.
WWWONDERFUL AWARDS
In our friendly celebration of the roadside flowers along the internet superhighway it is time to vote between Pentad World and Have a Good Today. Remember that the selection is intentional, the pairing is random, and the voting criteria are for you to decide.
See last week’s result and follow the celebration here.
