Dear reader
I have one last internet-related project to complete this year: the Internet Phone Book.
I was naive about every deadline Elliott and I gave ourselves for the book. At first, we aimed to publish in early summer, then late summer, and now…?
The Internet Phone Book is my first serious attempt at creating a print publication. It is a steep learning curve. I knew nothing about ISBN numbers, paperweight, or html-to-print. Now, I know a bit more about those things—and a lot more about all the things I still don’t know when it comes to print.
That said, I absolutely love this project, including manually reviewing the 800+ submissions. In addition to a directory of personal websites, the book will feature hand-drawn illustrations by Elliott and a selection of my favorite website-related essays.
We have already confirmed the first independent bookstores where the book will be available, as well as an online store. Everything is coming together nicely.
To be included, you have until Wednesday to submit your site.
With care
Kristoffer

Field notes
1.
»Pay attention to anything that makes you feel good in your body, mind, and spirit—something that nurtures these three aspects of your being. Is there an alternative life out there for you that would fulfill these three pillars?«
— Cortney Cassidy in Growing beyond the computer.

A quick note on the quote above. It is from the last interview in the Ecologies of Entanglement series, a publishing collaboration between Are.na and Dark Properties. Thanks to Meg Miller and Willa Köerner for putting it together. I loved every piece and hope to see it in print one day.

I’m kinda obsessed with how Nico Chilla’s website is a stream of notes from him and others.

(#23) Travel Diaries: Copenhagen + Ljubljana 2024
I’ve told how Emily and Josh wrote the kindest email and made Naive Yearly possible. But I haven’t told you they almost didn’t make it to Ljubljana. You’ll get that part of the story, and doubts, and thoughts, and a glimpse into the human called Josh.
5.
Poetic Web Calendar: London community laptop orchestra (October 8th), Alicia Guo on Creating an Infinite Poem (October 11th), Thing.tube’s next stream + IRL (October 12th), and Fubar glitch art festival (ongoing).
